wedding

early august we had to go to vegas for a friend's wedding. what a fabulous time. an union, of two persons, who are so madly in love. what a lovely moment shared...
THE D. This hotel is soo neat! Too bad they charge a resort fee. I would have stayed there. Instead I ended up at the CALIFORNIA where are the "locals" head to. Every time I stay there I run into at least ONE person I know. This year it was Trisha.

I won myself a viking hat at EXCALIBUR

yummy korean food SOYO Korean Barstaurant

OMFG!! MATT FREWER! I know him as Dr Leekie from Orphan Black.

The Golden Steer. I know this sounds weird. They had my favorite caesar salad ever. It was perfect in my taste. Prime rib was awesome too! ;)

The husband is a very private person, I decided to not post pics. Keep their moments, in my memory.

berkeley adventure

little miss siouxsie needed a check and had to head over to oakland VW. (i am going to give a plug out to them) if you have a volkswagen and need your car to be serviced. i can not express enough, you must head over to oakland and get your car serviced by the dealership. i never cared for dealership service guys. but this is definitely an exception. their prices are fair. the service, most excellent. see marin. he is awesome. he makes me feel like a customer. not just a number. he goes above and beyond to make sure you are well taken care of.

anyhoo.... that meant a mini adventure. i dragged along dustin with me! what little treat did we find?

URBAN ORE
they make recycling an art form. functionality at its best!!! treasures to be found!!!

sewing machines?! omg that is what i am talking about!!

the prices are fair! someone's trash may indeed be YOUR treasure!!!

then we headed on over to 900 grayson
we ordered the "demon lover"

yummmm....so far this is my favorite chicken and waffles place in the bay area!!!

animal funding

i just returned from japan, and how surreal it was. how the country comes together to conserve. to help one another. all the public buildings were conserving energy. moving sidewalks at the airport was very limited. lighting in department stores was minimal and there was no air conditioning.
i'd like to thank everyone who purchased items from my etsy shop to help donate funding to

animal refuge kansai and the american red cross...

look at those faces....those are a few of the animals found in the earthquake zone!

i was hesitant to eat a lot of food there but i decided, what have i consumed in the past and it has not killed me. or how about when i fly...i am always radiated...what difference does it make? so i hoarded a few snacks!!

and at jusco i found a clearance table with some weird mickey mouse pillows,

i almost bought it, then thought, what in the hell am i going to do with those?!

anyhoo, onto more news...
april is coming to a close and will soon move on to the next set of donations...
for the month of may, i will take the human route.
i have a friend who is suffering from progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy, or otherwise known as PML. there are no groups or research teams i can find on this particular disease, but to help, HIV and AIDS research there is a store here in SF called UNDER ONE ROOF. it is a non profit organization that sells items, and 100% of their profits go to "... approximately 30 participating San Francisco Bay Area HIV/AIDS service organizations"!

so come on and check out my etsy shop for some gift ideas! my zipper purchases are from a person who donates to the american cancer society, so if you do buy an item with zippers, you are helping under one roof AND the american cancer society! :)

april purchases are still helping the animals, and the month of may will go twds aids/hiv research...
thank you soo much!!!!

oh and thank you dustin for a fabulous birthday lunch!!!

local haunts

rumble fish
200 23rd Avenue
San Francisco, CA 94121-2009
(415) 876-3474
i absolutely love this place. we used to go there once a week. but eating out all the time can get costly so we had to cut down a bit...
the fish is fresh. it is not a traditional sushi bar but the chef is amazing at what he does! we always tend to order 3 different items on the "special of the evening" menu. we never go wrong on anything we order. hamachi kama is delish...but is very limited. whenever i see scallops on the menu i dive right into it! the next time i visit rumble fish i will try to log down what i ate...

volcano curry
5454 Geary Blvd
San Francisco, CA 94121-2009
(415) 752-7671
cheap eats!!! curry starts at $5!! you can select the "heat". i tend to do mild since i have bad acid reflux. you can add "toppings" too! if you are not in the mood for curry, you can opt for the volcano plates. it comes with salad and miso soup! don't forget your punch card!!! frequent visits will entitle you to free toppings, later a free curry! yummmmmmm

izakaya ju-ku
sorry i dont have a picture for this place but i hope to get one the next time i visit. this little corner joint is fun. the owner is awesome, that he listens to what you have to say or input. the specials is what i always look forward to. i loooove their nabeyaki udon. as time passes, the food gets better. admittedly when i first visited the place i was sorely disappointed. but we did try it again thinking that they had an off night. you just have to know what to order. we are slowly trying everything...but i can tell you this, do not order, jyaga bata (potato butter). it was literally a baked potato. takoyaki. sadly disappointed. my personal favorite, nabeyaki udon, agedashidofu, grilled chicken thigh (momo), scallop & bacon (hotate bekon), rice balls (onigiri) you can choose ume or shake (salmon), grilled rice ball (yaki onigiri), diced beef steak (saikorosuteki) and i am sure there is more but i can not think of the choices off the top of my head. sorry.

um ma son
5850 Geary Boulevard
San Francisco, CA 94121
(415) 831-8662
i absolutely adore this lady! her english is very limited but she is a sweetheart. we used to frequent this place every week. my bf got this weird stomach bug and is very limited to what he can eat so we no longer get to visit. but once the owner found out, she would make this special soup for him to settle his stomach.
what we love....dolsot bibimbap, spicy pork, fried chicken wings (ask right away, it takes time to make and she may not have it), soondubu. mandoo, kimchee pancakes, and kimchee fried rice. *drool* i wish they were opened tonight. they are closed on mondays. also please be patient. this is an one woman operation.

i guess this will be it for my post today. you know i will be adding more later! *wink*wink*
oh one last place...DO NOT GO HERE....

SAKURA SUSHI!
2450 Clement Street
San Francisco, CA 94121
(415) 386-8008
*ugh* so disappointed. i got sick that night too. sushi rice was too vinegary. california roll was a huge disappointment. tekka don, presentation was awesome. again, the rice is too vinegary. the maguro itself was good. chicken katsu dinner was alright. i would definitely opt for sauce on the side. the sauce was nasty. the salad that came with the dinner was drowned in dressing, and again too much vinegar. if you have a "sour" palate, maybe this is the place for you.

the rooms are kept the same from way back when....no t.v. they just got air conditioning installed last year. plumbing could use some work too...you either got cold freezing water or scalding hot...and the shower pretty much trickled...i still enjoyed myself...

there are a lot of vintage shops and cute art installations as we made our way onto 4th ave....

this trash can was made using bike parts!!

we started to set off on for a bite to eat to bison witches...pretty awesome bar food and not to mention cheap cheap cheap!! $2 domestic bottles and check out this huge order of nachos...they literally got a cafeteria tray...dumped out the chips, dumped some chili, cheese and jalapeno peppers all for under $7!!

d and i had to basically split a reuben sandwich...
