oyaji in the richmond

oyaji is located in the richmond district
3123 clement st (cross street is 32nd)
san francisco, ca 94121

we have been wanting to visit this quaint restaurant for quite some time now...
i am glad that we had the opportunity to do so today!

for lunch... we ordered tonkotsu ramen $8.50

it did have a nice flavor. mildly rich. noodles perfectly al dente. flavored boiled egg, over boiled and tasted like it was boiled directly in the soy sauce. the chashu or char siu was cooked thoroughly and had a lot of flavor. i would try the ramen again...just to see if the egg was over boiled in this batch.

buta kakuni $9

this is by far the best buta kakuni (braised pork belly) i ever had!! perfectly cooked with tons of flavor. the pork easily "shredded" with a chopstick. the fat easily melts at the touch of your tongue. i thought it was worth every penny.

katsu curry $8

the katsu was buried under all the curry. the flavor of the curry was nice. potatoes were cooked down and soft. rice had a nice texture, not dry nor too wet. could not tell what kind of grain they used. i can be a rice snob at times. hehe

here is a picture of the lunch menu

if you ever have a chance, you should try it! on june 22nd, fresh and easy opens. so stop on by before you do your grocery shopping!
